Our take on Dogurai
The retro presentation is central to the game, but the listed scope is compact: eight stages, a fixed protagonist, and a focus on platforming challenges and boss encounters. Players expecting a broad adventure structure may find the format more focused than the setting suggests.
What is Dogurai?
Dogurai is a pixel-art platform game set in a bleak future ruled by mechanical forces after robots replace human armies and law enforcement.
Bones, a former canine warrior, travels through the city without allies to confront them. The campaign contains eight areas, including underground drains, armed compounds, production plants, and elevated structures. Stages mix hazards, enemy varieties, icy surfaces, and motorcycle travel. Bones can leap twice, split incoming shots with his blade, and use finishing combinations. Mechanical commanders act as bosses, each with distinct attack and movement behavior. The presentation uses restricted palettes, compact sprites, and a 1990s-inspired action soundtrack. Controller input is available.

Dogurai compared to similar games
Dogurai focuses on solo, stage-based platforming with melee combat, hazards, and robot bosses. SUPER CHICKEN JUMPER combines running, jumping, dodging, and shooting in a runner format, while Sundered®: Eldritch Edition is described as a chaotic metroidvania rather than a fixed eight-stage platformer.
