Is Discharge worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Strategy players who want to switch between controlling individual drones and planning battlefield actions
- Players who enjoy configuring squads with different weapons and special equipment
- Base-building fans who prefer battles involving resource capture and defensive positioning
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a mostly hands-off strategy game may find direct control of individual drones too involved
- Those who prefer predictable combat situations may not enjoy battles shaped by simulated physics behavior
- Players looking for a story-led adventure rather than base construction, resource capture, and tactical conflict
Our take on Discharge
The defining detail is the shift between strategic base management and direct third-person control of individual drone units during combat.
What is Discharge?
Discharge is an action-strategy game about commanding drones in a battle for the planet’s remaining iridium.
Players directly control a gunship from a third-person view, then switch to a bomber to break through enemy defenses and destroy hostile storage sites while avoiding fire. Drones can be equipped with different weapons and special equipment, allowing squad combinations to be configured for combat. Base construction involves choosing locations to defend, placing towers and walls, and managing energy supplies so enemy strikes cannot disable defenses. Players also capture iridium mines, build energy farms, and choose when and where to attack. Physics-based unit behavior creates varied battle situations that require rapid tactical responses.
How Discharge plays
- 01Direct Unit Control
- A gunship can be operated from a third-person view, with a bomber available for attacks on hostile storage sites.
- 02Drone Customization
- Units can receive different weapons and special equipment for varied squad combinations.
- 03Defensive Base Building
- Players choose locations to protect and construct towers, walls, and energy systems.
- 04Resource Warfare
- Strategic objectives include capturing iridium mines and building energy farms.
- 05Physics-Based Battles
- Units simulate physics behavior, creating changing situations that call for quick tactical responses.
Discharge compared to similar games
Creeper World 4 centers on containing a fluid enemy across 3D terrain while building an economic base with energy and mined wares. Discharge instead combines customizable drones, direct gunship and bomber control, defensive construction, and iridium capture. Tooth and Tail offers real-time strategy with single-player, online competitive, split-screen, and replay modes, while Discharge focuses on physics-based battles and energy-supported defenses.
