Our take on Dinner Date
The focus on a single waiting-room experience gives the game a tightly controlled mood, but leaves little room for varied mechanics or extended replay. Interaction is limited to small actions that echo Julian’s thoughts rather than driving a larger progression system.
What is Dinner Date?
Dinner Date presents Julian Luxemburg waiting at his dinner table after his date fails to arrive.
The player inhabits his subconsciousness, observing his worries about the absent woman, work, boss, headhunter, Byron and friend Jerry. Actions such as tapping the table, checking the clock and eating accompany Julian’s thoughts. The experience unfolds in a real-time 3D setting with animations, wine, bread, soup and an original musical score. Julian’s story lasts 25 minutes and is fully voiced. The game uses an interface centered on playing as a subconsciousness rather than controlling a conventional character.
