Our take on Destiny or Fate
The defining structure is a card battle where hero abilities depend on particular card combinations, while non-boss monsters can be recruited as party members.
What is Destiny or Fate?
Destiny or Fate combines deck building with roguelike progression.
Players choose from unlocked heroes, assemble card decks, and form parties from mythical creatures encountered during adventures. Most monsters can be recruited after battles, while collected treasure can improve hero and creature abilities. Heroes use skills through card combinations rather than being controlled directly, with passive abilities also shaping tactics. Adventures offer choices such as boss fights and treasure hunts, and the five chapters are different each time. The game includes more than 15 heroes, more than 150 cards, and more than 100 monster types. If the chosen hero dies, the current adventure ends and must be started again.
How Destiny or Fate plays
- 01Recruitable Monsters
- Every encountered monster other than a boss can join the battle party.
- 02Hero Card Skills
- Hero abilities activate through particular card combinations, while passive skills do not require activation.
- 03Changing Chapters
- The game includes five chapters that are different each time the game is played.
- 04Unlockable Heroes
- Additional heroes become available as progression continues, with each character offering distinct abilities.
Destiny or Fate compared to similar games
Unlike Shogun Showdown, Destiny or Fate builds a party from a hero and recruitable monsters, with hero abilities tied to card combinations. Shogun Showdown centers on positioning, attack tiles, and timing actions before confronting the Shogun.
