Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players expecting continuous sports action may hit a wall when encounters pause for turn-based throws.
- Players seeking a low-pressure challenge may find Nightmare Mode demanding when each throw matters.
- Players looking for a conventional dodgeball sports game may not want its dreamworld story and conversation-focused framing.
Our take on Desta: The Memories Between
The clearest sticking point is the turn-based encounter system: players expecting continuous sports action will have to slow down, plan throws, and account for physics. Nightmare Mode raises that pressure further, since each throw matters.
What is Desta: The Memories Between?
Desta enters a surreal dreamworld each night, where fragments of past places and troubled relationships frame a team-based tactical adventure.
Encounters use turn-based, physics-based dodgeball: players aim throws, attempt trick shots and use hits to affect conversations and the world’s future. As the nights progress, Desta gains experience, develops abilities and meets friends with distinct powers and personal connections to the dreamworld. The game includes a full voice cast. Challenge Mode and Nightmare Mode are among the included game modes; Nightmare Mode raises the tactical challenge so every throw matters. The Dream Team Edition also includes the game soundtrack and a digital art book.
