Our take on Desert Law
The game focuses on squad command and direct battlefield action, giving up the slower, more deliberate planning found in turn-based strategy. Its mission structure also leaves less room for the individual character development associated with deeper RPGs.
What is Desert Law?
Desert Law is a real-time strategy game set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland where gasoline serves as currency.
Players follow Brad as he seeks vengeance after returning to find his village destroyed. He gathers outcasts into a fighting unit and recruits allies for attacks against bandit groups. The campaign includes over 30 missions with objectives such as defending positions, rescuing targets, and launching assaults. Players direct a group of heroes with different statistics, operate vehicles, and fight through enemy lines. The game uses an isometric presentation that combines 2D and 3D graphics and runs on a modified Blitzkrieg engine.
How Desert Law plays
- 01Multi-objective campaign
- More than 30 missions cover defense operations, rescues, and large-scale attacks.
- 02Hero squad control
- The playable force includes characters with differing statistics.
- 03Vehicle operations
- Vehicles can be driven during the wasteland campaign.
- 04Isometric presentation
- The visual style combines two-dimensional and three-dimensional graphics.
Desert Law compared to similar games
Desert Law uses real-time squad control, vehicles, and a campaign of defense, rescue, and assault missions. Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew also uses real-time strategy, but centers on stealth operations in a fantastical pirate setting rather than wasteland combat and vehicle use.
