DERE Vengeance is a horror platformer set inside a haunted game world.
Side-scrolling stages combine precision jumping with unsettling encounters, strange glitches, psychological horror, ghosts, creatures, and corruptions. The story uses meta-horror and fourth-wall breaks, placing the player within its events while questioning reality and character loyalties. A. I. D. E. , a helpful artificial companion, and a morally upright developer character provide guidance during the journey. The game presents a pixel-art setting with an atmospheric soundtrack and draws on the structure of older, difficult platformers. It can be played without the other DERE games, although it forms part of the DERE EXE and DERE EVIL EXE saga. Mouse and keyboard are required for the intended play, and audio is necessary for progression.
