Our take on Demon Slayer Shion
Instead of treating exploration as travel between battles, the game makes poison exposure part of the expedition’s central rhythm. Progress involves deciding when to retreat for detoxification, while rescues, Spirit Energy, and player choices connect navigation to character growth and the ending.
What is Demon Slayer Shion?
Demon Slayer Shion is an exploration and survival RPG set in a supernatural cave.
Shion Rokujou enters the cave alone after Ayano Senjuin and a search party disappear. Players move through winding levels, fight creatures using turn-based and dungeon-crawling battle styles, and monitor the character’s exposure to poisonous fluids and fumes. When poison accumulates, returning to the base allows the poison extractor to detox Shion. Missing Demon Slayers can be released during the journey, providing rewards and Spirit Energy. Spirit Energy purchases abilities and techniques and also serves as currency among Demon Slayers. Choices made during the expedition lead to different endings.
How Demon Slayer Shion plays
- 01Poison management
- Accumulated toxins require a return to base, where the poison extractor removes them.
- 02Mixed battle styles
- Encounters use both turn-based combat and dungeon-crawling battle formats.
- 03Rescue rewards
- Freeing missing Demon Slayers grants rewards and Spirit Energy.
- 04Ability progression
- Spirit Energy can be used to obtain new abilities and techniques.
- 05Branching endings
- Actions and decisions during the journey determine different conclusions.
Demon Slayer Shion compared to similar games
Demon Slayer Shion combines supernatural cave exploration with poison management, rescue objectives, and turn-based or dungeon-crawling battles. Back to the Dawn centers on surviving and escaping a maximum-security prison through investigation and conflict, while Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition focuses on exploring a strange city and an unconventional story. Angels of Death is also presented as an RPG Maker title, but the supplied description does not show the same cave-survival or poison workflow.
