Our take on Deadland Garden
The defining structure is a top-down shooter set in an almost endless apartment, where randomized runs combine gunfire, strange events, item choices, and branching story outcomes. The investigation is framed around a recurring choice between fighting for information and sacrificing the heroine’s body.
What is Deadland Garden?
Deadland Garden follows Lin, a young detective investigating a girl's disappearance who becomes trapped in the Fallen Apartment, a vast building ruled by the Clown Evil God.
The top-down shooter combines gunfire with light roguelike level randomization, so each run uses newly arranged spaces. Players fight monsters and bosses, discover bizarre events, and find relics and weapons with distinct abilities. Weapons can be bought and upgraded at a mysterious shop. The story includes over 25 animated CG sequences, three animated character portraits with layered clothing, six branching endings, and New Game Plus. The investigation presents a choice between confronting enemies for the truth and sacrificing Lin's body to obtain more information.
