- Players seeking a non-RPG game may not want party recruitment and monster battles.
Our take on DashBored
Players who need immediate, real-time action may hit a wall when encounters switch into turn-based combat. Those looking for a grounded adventure may instead bounce off the pocket-dimension premise, bizarre cast, and deliberately strange encounters.
What is DashBored?
DashBored centers on Nicolas, an isolated man unexpectedly sent to a small alternate realm inhabited by people who have given up their desire to live.
Vurrus governs this bleak place, and a hostile robotic woman pursues him. Players lead Nicolas across varied settings, encounter eccentric allies, foes, and residents, and battle monsters through traditional turn-based RPG combat. Seven companions are available for recruitment, with several possible conclusions to the story. The game features humorous conversations, unusual characters, an individual soundtrack, and a narrative touching on affection, grief, and the destruction of the multiverse. Encounters include rodents, birds, and enormous beasts.

DashBored compared to similar games
DashBored is a turn-based RPG about exploring varied environments, recruiting seven party members, and reaching multiple endings. Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition also centers on an unconventional story, characters, and exploration, while Back to the Dawn focuses on prison escape, investigation, survival, and fighting. Angels of Death is another RPG Maker title, but its listed description does not show the same party-recruitment or multiple-ending scope.
