Our take on CRUX
The trials are structured as 13 arenas across 5 worlds, each concluding with its own Guardian fight.
What is CRUX?
CRUX is a single-player arena shooter roguelike built around enemy waves, arena bosses, and repeat runs.
Its trials span 13 arenas across 5 worlds, with demons native to each world and a distinct Guardian boss for every arena. Players use movement and weapons while controlling the arena to survive encounters. After each arena, a choice of magic abilities adds to the character’s build; the game offers over 100 abilities, including lightning attacks and lifeforce theft. Completing the arenas earns a place on the leaderboards, where the fastest times compete for the top position. Players can adjust their ability build and replay the trials to pursue a faster run.
How CRUX plays
- 01Arena-specific Guardians
- Each of the 13 arenas ends with a distinct Guardian encounter that tests movement, weapon use, and control of the space.
- 02Ability choices
- A pool of over 100 magic abilities lets players shape their build, with options such as lightning attacks and lifeforce theft.
- 03Speed leaderboards
- After completing every arena, players can pursue a leaderboard position by finishing the trials faster.
