StrategyIs Cross Pixels worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Picross fans who want a collection of logic-based picture puzzles
- Puzzle makers who want to create and share custom grids
- Solo puzzle players who want optional hints and a choice of grid sizes
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players who want action or story progression may find the grid-solving loop too focused on deduction.
- Players seeking a short, fixed set of puzzles may hit the collection's repeated solve-a-grid structure.
- Players looking for a conventional rectangular-only format may not want the triangle puzzles.
Our take on Cross Pixels
The likely sticking point is the deduction itself: each picture is hidden behind row-and-column clues, so players who cannot infer the next cells may need to use the staged hints. Larger grids raise the same task to sizes as large as 25x25 in the included levels, with Workshop puzzles possible up to 50x50.
What is Cross Pixels?
Cross Pixels is a collection of more than 400 handcrafted Picross puzzles.
Use the numbers beside each row and column to work out which grid cells to fill and reveal a picture. Puzzles range from 5x5 to 25x25, with custom and Workshop puzzles possible up to 50x50. Levels are grouped by size, and all are available without unlocking. The game also includes triangle puzzles. An editor lets players create puzzles; it checks whether each has a unique solution and can be solved using line logic. Steam Workshop supports sharing and playing community-created levels. Undo, block counts, multiple marking colours, autocomplete settings and coloured numbers provide additional puzzle controls. Optional, staged hints point to places to examine and explain deductions.
How Cross Pixels plays
- 01Puzzle editor
- Created levels are checked for a unique solution and whether line logic alone can solve them.
- 02Workshop sharing
- Players can publish their puzzles and play levels made by the community.
- 03Staged hints
- Hints can first identify where to look, then explain how to deduce cells.
- 04Triangle puzzles
- This alternate puzzle shape adds a different format alongside the standard grids.
- 05Puzzle controls
- Undo, block counts, marking colours and adjustable autocomplete settings support solving.
