Our take on CorePiercer
The editable-script system trades away Steam achievements and leaderboards whenever personal scripts are used. The train-building focus also keeps progression centered on drilling depth, carriage capacity, supplies, and equipment rather than a broader range of activities.
What is CorePiercer?
CorePiercer is an underground exploration game centered on a train that drills through high-temperature, high-pressure environments.
Players reinforce carriages, expand supply and cargo capacity, and upgrade equipment while dealing with groundwater, currents, lava, hard rock, and fuel use. Two drill types can be upgraded for different purposes: one penetrates harder formations, while the other increases the speed of breaking rock or minerals. A replenishment carriage holds water and oil, and a turbo carriage raises travel speed in water. Building a subway station creates an underground resupply point. Exploration can continue over unlimited depth and distance. Game scripts can be edited or expanded, but personal scripts disable Steam achievements and leaderboards.
How CorePiercer plays
- 01Upgradeable drill types
- One drill handles harder formations, while the other increases the speed of breaking rock or mineral deposits.
- 02Train expansion
- Additional carriages increase supplies or cargo space, while a turbo carriage raises movement speed in water.
- 03Underground resupply
- A subway station can provide replenishment without requiring a return to the surface each time.
- 04Editable game scripts
- Personal scripts can add or modify content, with Steam achievements and leaderboards disabled when they are used.
- 05Fuel management
- Running out of fuel switches the train to backup power, reducing its forward speed.
