StrategyIs Colormeleons worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Steam players who enjoy sharing paintings in community competitions
- Idle-game players who prefer recurring weekly challenges over a fixed campaign
- Players who like trading and working with restricted painting supplies
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a broad painting palette may find the color restrictions limiting.
- Players who prefer a fast, action-focused pace may find the idle painting and contest structure slow.
- Players looking for combat, exploration, or a story-driven campaign may find the painting-community focus too narrow.
Our take on Colormeleons
The restricted palette and small starting supply make trading central to progression, but they also limit painting choices until more paint is obtained. Community contests are part of the main activity, leaving less room for a purely private painting experience.
What is Colormeleons?
Colormeleons is an idle painting game centered on Steam community contests.
Each player receives a Colormeleon with a specific color, a studio, canvases, painting ideas, and a small amount of paint. The available supplies are limited, and the paint is restricted to shades of the Colormeleon’s color. Players create pictures, try to obtain more paint through trading, and publish their artwork as screenshots in the Steam community hub. Artwork posted there takes part in the competition and may become part of the game for other players to see. Weekly painting contests and new challenges provide the recurring structure, while community participation and trading are part of the route toward recognition as a painter.
