Is CleanFall worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Players who enjoy survival games with ship construction and tower defense
- Roguelike fans who want changing maps, resources, encounters, and events
- Strategy players interested in combining turrets and adapting to hostile ecosystems
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a tightly scripted campaign may find the run-based, procedurally changing structure less suitable
- Players who prefer direct combat without construction, resource gathering, or defensive planning may find the layered systems demanding
- Players looking for a conventional cleaning simulation may not fit the game's combat-focused interpretation of the premise
Our take on CleanFall
Its broad mix of construction, defense, harvesting, exploration, and roguelike variation trades away a narrow, tightly focused play loop. Players must repeatedly balance several systems instead of concentrating on one central activity.
What is CleanFall?
CleanFall is a survival roguelike set in a procedurally generated underground world.
Players control a cleaning bot equipped initially with a modified vacuum sweeper, then build and customize mobile warships while fighting hostile creatures. The game combines ship construction, tower defense, mining, harvesting, resource collection, and turret combinations that can produce defenses such as mortars and drone factories. Resources, biomes, nests, items, character encounters, and events vary between runs. A perk system changes abilities including movement speed, energy use, turret strength, structural durability, and mining speed. Each run also advances a narrative about an altered planet, its underground horrors, and events spanning two centuries.
How CleanFall plays
- 01Mobile Warships
- Construct and modify vessels for movement through difficult underground environments.
- 02Combined Turrets
- Mix defensive turret types to create structures such as mortar emplacements and drone-producing facilities.
- 03Variable Ecosystems
- Study hostile creatures and use their behaviors within changing underground environments.
- 04Run-Based Resources
- Resource locations, available items, and gathering opportunities change from one game to another.
- 05Character Perks
- Perks modify movement, energy consumption, turret power, durability, and mining speed.
- 06Unfolding Story
- Progressive runs reveal more about the planet's past and its present-day developments.
CleanFall compared to similar games
Until We Die centers on defending a subway base for about 30 game days, while CleanFall combines mobile ship construction, turret combinations, harvesting, mining, and changing underground environments. Quasimorph focuses on corporate contracts and extracting possessions across high-stakes missions, whereas CleanFall emphasizes ecosystem survival, vessel construction, and defensive engineering. Force of Nature covers exploration, gathering, crafting, and management across more than 10 zones; CleanFall instead uses procedurally varied runs with tower-defense mechanics and alchemic turret combinations.
