Is Clamb worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- VR players who want a difficult physics-based climbing challenge
- Fans of Getting Over It who want a mountain-climbing variation
- Players who prefer climbing with optional checkpoints and alternate controls
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a relaxed climbing experience may find the deliberately punishing ascent too demanding.
- Players who prefer guided movement or broad gameplay variety may find the hammer-focused climb narrow and repetitive.
- Players looking for a non-VR game may not be suited to this virtual reality climbing format.
Our take on Clamb
Rather than giving climbing conventional handholds or a guided route, the game makes a single hammer the primary means of movement. Progress depends on manipulating physics around obstacles, turning ascent into a precision challenge instead of a standard traversal system.
What is Clamb?
Clamb is a punishing virtual reality climbing game centered on ascending a surreal mountain with a hammer.
The hammer follows controller movement, so progress comes from hitting, pushing, and dragging it around obstacles. The climb reaches into the stratosphere and uses physics-based movement without guided assistance. Players can choose between the Heavy Hammer, which provides the maximum challenge, and Twin Hammers, which offer easier control. Optional checkpoints can be enabled, and either hand can control the hammer. A tunnelling vignette option is available for comfort. Reaching the summit provides a reward. The game is inspired by Getting Over It and includes troubleshooting guides in the Steam forums.
How Clamb plays
- 01Hammer-based climbing
- Controller movements direct the hammer as it strikes, pushes, and drags around obstacles.
- 02Two hammer styles
- The Heavy Hammer increases the challenge, while Twin Hammers provide easier control.
- 03Optional checkpoints
- Checkpoints can be enabled during the climb.
- 04Comfort vignette
- A tunnelling option is available for comfort during virtual reality play.
- 05Hand swapping
- The hammer can be assigned to either hand.
Clamb compared to similar games
Jusant is also a climbing-focused action-puzzle game, but it presents a meditative journey with different paths, climbing tools, a stamina meter, and environmental secrets. Clamb instead centers on physics-based hammer manipulation, a surreal mountain ascent, and optional checkpoints. The other listed alternatives focus on shooting, running, metroidvania exploration, or multiplayer roguelite combat rather than climbing.
