Our take on Chronicle: Unit Eight
The run-based structure favors repeated attempts and ship customization over a single uninterrupted progression path. Scraps fund upgrades for future runs, while the central play remains focused on combat against enemy waves and bosses.
What is Chronicle: Unit Eight?
Chronicle: Unit Eight is an arcade shooter built around bullet-hell combat, destructible bullets, enemy waves, and boss encounters.
Players guide Atlas and her ship, Unit Eight, on a mission to dismantle a space pirate group's planet-destroying weapon. During each run, players collect power-ups and modifications; scraps from defeated enemies can be spent on ship upgrades for future runs. Players can also explore a perk tree and customize the ship with weapons, defensive maneuvers, abilities, bombs, and other upgrades. The game includes a main campaign, Boss Rush mode, and Arcade mode, where players can compete on leaderboards. Its progression combines shooter combat with repeated runs and ship customization.
