Play it if you…
Good fit- VR rhythm-game players who want to move around a room while striking beat-timed objects
- Karate-themed game fans who want songs with physical chopping and punching actions
- Players who enjoy making or adjusting rhythm-game beatmaps
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a story-driven game with substantial narrative progression may find the rhythm-game format limited.
- Those wanting a rhythm game centered on fixed choreography may find the Sensei’s movement and thrown objects demand room-scale reactions.
- Players without access to a VR setup are outside the game’s stated play format.
Our take on Chop It
The room-scale design makes physical movement central to keeping time, but that focus leaves less room for a conventional, stationary rhythm-game format. Song mapping and beatmap controls add customization, while play remains organized around striking objects to music.
What is Chop It?
Chop It is a VR rhythm game built around karate-themed movement: chop boards, punch cinder blocks, and respond to objects arriving on the beat.
The Sensei moves around the Pagoda and throws materials, making room-scale movement part of play. The game includes 8 songs written for it, and players can import songs and map them with VR tools, manually, procedurally, or through a mix of both. Beatmaps can be customized to set the Sensei’s movements or use randomized movement. Play also includes multiple object types and patterns, hand appearance and orientation settings, accessibility settings for different heights, local high scores, and global leaderboards.
