Our take on Celestial Command
Rather than centering on one hero ship, the game makes spacecraft construction and fleet control its main structure. Orbital movement also replaces the usual direct-flight model, requiring ships to remain on stable paths while players manage modules, fuel, energy, and ammunition.
What is Celestial Command?
Celestial Command is a co-op space survival sandbox centered on orbital mechanics, ship construction, and resource management.
Players mine asteroids, salvage wreckage, trade goods, complete missions, and fight enemies across a procedural galaxy containing stars, black holes, planets, asteroids, and space stations. Ships are assembled from individual modules with their own functions and parameters, and modules can be attached or detached during play. Fuel, energy, ammunition, and construction materials are limited. Players can build multiple ships and stations, switch control between ships, and issue movement orders. The game includes a 2D physics mode based on orbital mechanics and an alternative classic physics mode. Combat equipment includes cannons, lasers, rockets, shields, and other devices.
How Celestial Command plays
- 01Orbital Navigation
- Ships remain in constant motion and require orbital maneuvers to maintain stable paths around planets.
- 02Modular Shipbuilding
- Individual components determine a craft's functions and can be added or removed during play.
- 03Fleet Command
- Players can create multiple ships and stations, switch between ships, and issue movement commands.
- 04Resource Management
- Fuel, energy, ammunition, and construction materials are limited and must be stored for use.
- 05Procedural Galaxy
- Exploration takes place among generated stars, black holes, planets, asteroids, and space stations.
- 06Combat Systems
- Ships can use cannons, lasers, rockets, shields, and other devices against enemies.
Celestial Command compared to similar games
SpaceBourne 2 combines a single-player open-universe RPG and third-person shooting with mining, trading, piracy, crafting, and empire-building. Celestial Command instead centers on co-op sandbox play, modular ships, orbital mechanics, fleet orders, and limited ship resources.
