Our take on Cavesweeper
The bounce point arrives when a wrong tile choice immediately exposes the player to the current monster's attack. Players who want experimentation without combat consequences may hit that system early.
What is Cavesweeper?
Cavesweeper combines roguelike dungeon exploration, monster battles, and tile-based logic puzzles.
Each battle uses a 25-tile field, with colors assigned to every tile. Revealing a tile displays a number showing how many of its four orthogonally adjacent tiles share that color. Incorrect guesses let the current monster hit the player. Enemies have distinct properties and effects, while dungeon equipment can provide benefits such as hit-point regeneration or damage reduction through armor. Runs vary between playthroughs, and the game includes 40 quests with associated Steam achievements. Leaderboards add a competitive layer. The game saves automatically after every battle, allowing a run to be resumed after leaving the application.
How Cavesweeper plays
- 01Color adjacency puzzles
- Numbers on revealed tiles count matching colors among the four neighboring tiles, excluding diagonals.
- 02Monster encounters
- Wrong tile guesses trigger attacks from enemies with different properties and effects.
- 03Dungeon equipment
- Items found during exploration can restore hit points or reduce incoming damage with armor.
- 04Quest achievements
- The game includes 40 quests linked to Steam achievements.
- 05Battle autosaves
- Progress is saved after each battle so a session can be resumed later.
