Our take on Catarro
Rather than centering a platformer on conventional weapons or standard movement, Catarro builds traversal around sneezing, phlegm bubbles, and spit swings. Its journey also ties collectible hunting and route restoration to a child’s attempt to return to his family.
What is Catarro?
Catarro is a 2D pixel-art precision platformer about a boy completing a ritual in a natural environment filled with traps and hostile creatures.
The journey involves finding plush cats, restoring the route toward his home village, and following clues left by his mother. Movement includes jumping, sneezing to gain height, floating with mucus bubbles, and swinging from spit. New abilities become available during the journey, adding ways to cross hazards and choose routes. The story follows Catarro as he tries to reunite with his family after being left alone far from home. Gifts and clues placed along the path recall his family and support his progress through the environment.
