Our take on Burnstar
Its focus on compact, timed destruction puzzles trades broad exploration for careful use of a limited explosive supply. Gold Flags add replay goals, but the central task remains solving hazards and collecting stars within individual levels.
What is Burnstar?
Burnstar is an action-puzzle game built around using a limited supply of bombs and rockets in each level.
Players set off explosions to damage Evil Inc. installations, trigger chain reactions among crates and flammable goo, and gather enough stars to unlock the level’s Big Star. Hazards include spinning saws, spikes, fire, incinerators, and lasers. Levels also ask players to collect stars quickly enough to earn Gold Flags, which open secret stages. The game includes local co-op across its levels, four characters with different abilities, three worlds, and boss encounters with Evil Toxo. Rare saplings and hidden secrets are also available to find.
