Our take on Boolean
Rather than presenting logic as a set of fixed answers, Boolean makes circuit construction the central activity. Its open-ended puzzles and sandbox mode let players create working devices, replacing a conventional linear puzzle structure with experimentation and reusable designs.
What is Boolean?
Boolean is an open-ended problem-solving game about constructing circuits and sending signals.
Players place tiles that follow Boolean logic rules to create devices and solve puzzles based on real-life problems. The game includes 18 open-ended puzzles, each with two save files, spanning difficulty from easy to extreme. A sandbox mode allows unrestricted circuit creation with unlimited save files. The Component system stores selected circuit sections for reuse, while tile selections can be moved, removed, or duplicated. An undo function supports experimentation. Players can build devices such as typewriters, calculators, minigames, arithmetic logic units, and simple computers while learning about Boolean logic, logic gates, and binary.
How Boolean plays
- 01Tile-based circuits
- More than 10 tile types can be combined to construct signal-processing devices.
- 02Open-ended puzzles
- Eighteen puzzles based on real-life problems offer two save files each.
- 03Sandbox construction
- A separate mode permits free-form circuit creation with unlimited save files.
- 04Reusable components
- The Component system preserves chosen circuit sections for later use.
- 05Selection editing
- Groups of tiles can be moved, deleted, or duplicated.
- 06Undo support
- An undo function allows previous construction steps to be reversed.
Boolean compared to similar games
Boolean focuses on Boolean-logic circuits, signal routing, and computer-like devices, while SpaceChem centers on constructing factories that transform raw materials into chemical products. Both use open-ended design puzzles, but their building systems and problem domains differ.
