Our take on Bonesaw

The game trades broad strategic scope for a focused duel built around hand counts, special abilities, and saw activation. That concentration keeps each decision tied to the current round, but leaves little room for the large maps, units, or campaign structures found in wider strategy games.

What is Bonesaw?

Bonesaw is a turn-based strategy game built around duels with the Devil and other opponents.

Players attack hands by adding fingers from the attacking hand, while exceeding a target's count resets it and carries over the remainder. Attacks can also activate a saw that may sever an active hand at the end of a turn. Chips, power cards, item combinations, and special abilities add tactical choices, while a skeleton can be eliminated to earn a power card. A round goes to the first player who removes both opposing hands, and the match goes to the first player with 3 points. Solo play includes 3 game modes, with local multiplayer and Steam Remote Play also available.

How Bonesaw plays

01Hand-Based Combat
Attacks add fingers to an opposing hand, with excess totals resetting the count and carrying the remainder forward.
02Saw Activation
Bell attacks move the blade between active hands, and the saw may sever one at the end of a turn.
03Power Cards
Removing the skeleton awards a card that grants a distinct ability.
04Solo And Multiplayer
The game includes 3 solo modes plus local multiplayer and online play through Steam Remote Play.

Bonesaw compared to similar games

Bonesaw centers on two-player hand elimination, card effects, and a saw that can alter a turn. Shogun Showdown instead uses positioning, attack-tile upgrades, skill selection, and roguelike progression before confronting the Shogun.
