Our take on Bomber Command
Players who want to set a plan and leave it unchanged may hit a wall when weather shifts, German forces redeploy, and factories mitigate damage. The campaign also asks for decisions beyond target selection, including supply demands and the threat posed by U-boats.
What is Bomber Command?
Bomber Command is a strategy and simulation game about directing American air forces based in England during 1943.
Players plan missions using historically based units and airfields, choose targets among more than 200 German-controlled installations, and manage competing demands for supplies. Planning-map overlays show concentrations of flak and fighters, while routes can be chosen to avoid or engage enemy forces. Missions play out in real time, and players can control the bombsight on raids. Damage to factories affects connected parts of the German economy, which responds by shifting fighters and mitigating damage. Research, U-boat activity, changing weather, and crew skill and morale also affect the campaign.
