We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…

- Action players who prefer mission-based combat across varied environments
- Players who want several weapons and special abilities to shape their combat approach
Skip it if you…

- Players who dislike managing two-handed weapons and switching among combat abilities may hit a wall during fights.
- Players looking for a non-VR shooter are not a fit for this format.
Our take on Boiling Steel
The bounce point arrives in combat handling: players who are uncomfortable with two-handed weapon mechanics may struggle before the upgrade system and special abilities can broaden their options. The game also keeps progression tied to a sequence of combat missions rather than an open-ended structure.
What is Boiling Steel?
Boiling Steel is a story-led sci-fi first-person VR shooter set on a distant colony planet.
The campaign follows a search for a better life that turns into an investigation of a global catastrophe. More than 40 combat missions take place across distinct maps and environments, including cloud-city complexes, mining platforms, frozen regions, and science camps. Combat uses 11 tools with two-handed handling, alongside a cutting weapon and hand-to-hand attacks. A weapon upgrade system improves frequently used tools over time. Players can also use abilities such as cloning, increased speed, a defensive matrix, electromagnetic attacks, and a plasma-based stripping system. The campaign is structured around reaching its conclusion to discover what happened.
