Is Bogatyr worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Action-RPG players who want battles against many opponents
- Fantasy players who prefer branching dialogue and optional quests
- Players interested in pseudo-historical Ancient Rus settings
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a broad world may find the adventure limited to two locations
- Players wanting a longer optional-quest list may find more than 15 side quests restrictive
- Players looking for a story without dialogue choices may not suit its branching conversations
Our take on Bogatyr
The game concentrates its story and exploration in two locations, giving up the geographic breadth of a larger role-playing campaign. That narrower setting supports a compact adventure but limits how widely the world can expand.
What is Bogatyr?
This third-person action RPG takes place in a pseudo-historical fantasy version of Ancient Rus.
After a ten-year war on the Southern Borders, a warrior returns to find his homeland devastated. He investigates what happened to his village, takes part in a civil war, and confronts an ancient evil in the swamps. Dialogue choices with non-player characters can affect the course of the game. The story includes a main branch and more than 15 side quests. Combat pits the hero against many opponents, while five super attacks become available as the character gains levels. The game includes an inventory system and two locations containing abandoned fortresses, Slavic villages, fields, swamps, rocky plains, and pagan altars.
