Is BLUE REFLECTION worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- RPG players who want school relationships alongside combat missions
- Players interested in alternating between everyday activities and supernatural battles
- Story-focused players who want a personal wish tied to a world-saving conflict
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a single continuous combat-focused structure may bounce off the repeated return to school activities.
- Players wanting open-ended exploration may find the mission cycle centered on school life and the Common restrictive.
- Players looking for a non-RPG format may not want item searches, missions, and battles tied to story progression.
Our take on BLUE REFLECTION
The likely bounce point is the recurring handoff between school life and the Common. Players who want the supernatural conflict immediately may hit a wall when progress requires friendship-building, student missions, and other after-class activities before the next major Sephira encounter.
What is BLUE REFLECTION?
BLUE REFLECTION follows Hinako Shirai, a student returning to Hoshinomiya Girls' High School after recovering from a leg injury.
Magical sisters Yuzu and Lime grant her the ability to become a Reflector. The game alternates between ordinary school activities and supernatural missions. After lessons, Hinako develops friendships with other students and accepts tasks. In the Common, she searches for items, fights enemies, and addresses students' problems. Progress through these activities advances the story and eventually brings Sephira into the real world. Hinako confronts these beings while pursuing a personal wish and protecting the world. The structure repeatedly moves between school life, visits to the Common, and major battles.
How BLUE REFLECTION plays
- 01School Life Activities
- After classes, Hinako can build friendships and accept missions from other students.
- 02Common Exploration
- Missions in the Common involve finding items and fighting battles.
- 03Sephira Encounters
- Story progress brings Sephira into the real world for confrontations with Hinako.
- 04Reflector Transformation
- Hinako receives magical power from Yuzu and Lime and changes into a Reflector.
BLUE REFLECTION compared to similar games
BLUE REFLECTION combines school relationships, student missions, item searches, and supernatural battles. Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition centers on exploring a strange city and an unconventional story, while Back to the Dawn focuses on surviving, investigating, and escaping a prison. Tales of Symphonia presents a large-scale conflict involving two connected worlds rather than BLUE REFLECTION's school-and-Common cycle.
