Our take on Blade & Bones
The focus on timing-heavy combat gives exploration a secondary role: optional secrets and lore require extensive searching, while players seeking a more guided adventure may spend less time on the story’s main path.
What is Blade & Bones?
Blade & Bones is a combat-focused metroidvania set in a world shaped by an old conflict between Niro and the Orins.
The story centers on recovering seven lost swords. Combat uses light and heavy attacks, six styles, timing, rolls, relics, and body transformations called Kuros. Swords are procedurally generated, while enemies and bosses provide varied fights. Exploration takes place across an open map with optional secrets, hidden routes, shortcuts, life fragments, and concealed weapons. Some areas depend on the time of day or the appropriate Kuro. After a short introduction, the seven swords can be approached in different orders, with lore discoveries found through searching the world.
