Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking fast-paced gameplay may lose interest in the ongoing aquarium-care cycle.

- Players who do not want to monitor fish stress, equipment performance, and monthly funds may find the upkeep demanding.
Our take on Biotope
The bounce point is the ongoing care loop: players must track stress, equipment effects, breeding conditions, statistics, and a monthly budget at the same time. Anyone looking for a decorative aquarium without management consequences may stop engaging once these systems affect fish health and reproduction.
What is Biotope?
Biotope is an aquarium simulation about creating and operating aquatic ecosystems.
Players choose one of three starting setups: Empty Tank, Amazon, or Malawi Aquarium. Fish and plants can be cultivated, bred, and traded while filters, pumps, lamps, and other equipment maintain living conditions. Component quality affects durability and the wider aquarium ecosystem. Fish have stress levels that influence sickness and reproduction, while breeding can raise their DNA rating. Players manage a monthly budget, monitor statistics, purchase supplies from the Blue World Store, decorate the tank, and complete quests for extra funds. The game simulates the life cycles of fish and plants and lets players influence aquarium populations.
How Biotope plays
- 01Three Starting Setups
- New aquariums begin with an empty tutorial tank, an Amazon setup, or a Malawi setup.
- 02Living Ecosystems
- Fish and plants develop through simulated life cycles that players can influence.
- 03Aquarium Equipment
- Filters, pumps, and lamps affect habitat conditions, durability, and the wider tank ecosystem.
- 04Fish Breeding
- Breeding healthy animals can raise fish DNA ratings and produce offspring.
- 05Budget Management
- Monthly funds support aquarium expansion, while quests provide additional budget.
