Our take on BARK
The presentation foregrounds heroic pets, mech abilities, and team play, while the core structure is a focused shoot-em-up built around enemy waves, planetary bosses, plutonium collection, and score comparison. The Saturday-morning-cartoon framing does not indicate a broader adventure or exploration format.
What is BARK?
BARK is a cartoon-inspired shoot-em-up about four pet pilots fighting the Dark Tide, a cybernetic fish armada spreading through the Solar System.
Barker, Felicity, Lucio, and Marv each pilot a mech with a different combat style, including extra-firepower companions, spread shots, shields, and homing bullets. In couch co-op for up to four players, teammates can combine mech abilities into hybrid attacks. Individual super attacks include bullet barrages, protective shields, and time-slowing effects. Levels culminate in planetary bosses with increasingly difficult attack patterns. Defeated enemies drop plutonium, which players collect while competing for high scores among their teammates.
How BARK plays
- 01Four Playable Pilots
- Barker, Felicity, Lucio, and Marv use distinct ships based on companion firepower, spread shots, shields, and homing projectiles.
- 02Couch Co-op
- Up to four players can fight together in local cooperative play.
- 03Combined Abilities
- Co-op teams can fuse mech powers into hybrid attacks that draw from multiple pilots.
- 04Planetary Bosses
- Boss encounters include Spike the Narwhal and Vic the Sea Snake, with attack patterns that become harder.
- 05High-Score Competition
- Players collect plutonium from defeated enemies and compare scores with teammates.
