Players can start a single contest against computer-controlled opponents, follow a season with varying schedules and cumulative statistics, or compete locally with two controller users. Coach mode provides play selection while the match unfolds. An aiming-based passing mechanic determines where throws travel. Teams receive ratings for their offensive and defensive play categories, including rushing, coverage, and special teams, while individual players have statistics covering football abilities. External files can alter player names, jersey numbers, races, and each team's home and away uniforms. Input options include keyboard and mouse or controllers, with Steam Achievements and Steam Trading Cards also supported.
