Our take on Atonement: Scourge of Time
The defining mechanic is skill access through Energy: characters possess their special abilities from the start, but high costs keep many unavailable until maximum Energy is increased.
What is Atonement: Scourge of Time?
Set in a dark fantasy world more than 400 years after the last king was killed, the game follows a land divided into fragile settlements, conflicting races, bandits, wild animals, and a weakening Order of Atonement.
Two protagonist teams tell the same story from different perspectives, with their routes sometimes joining and sometimes separating as they pursue their own aims. Battles use turn-based combat, boss encounters, and an energy system that governs special abilities. Characters have their skills from the beginning, but high energy costs restrict access until maximum Energy increases. Equipment includes weapons, armour, and accessories. Normal and Challenging modes provide different difficulty levels.

Atonement: Scourge of Time compared to similar games
Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition centers on an unconventional story, characters, and exploration of a strange, dangerous city, while Atonement: Scourge of Time uses two protagonist teams and energy-managed turn-based battles. Back to the Dawn is a prison escape RPG focused on survival, investigation, crime, corruption, and breaking out of a maximum-security facility; Atonement instead follows dark fantasy conflicts across a degraded land.
