Our take on Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration
Rather than presenting a conventional campaign, this collection places games inside historical timelines. Interviews, footage, documents, and playable titles share the same structure, making the surrounding archive part of the main experience instead of separate bonus material.
What is Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration?
Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration combines a historical archive with a playable game collection.
Interactive Timelines connect trivia, digital artifacts, interviews, documentary footage, and games, allowing play to continue without leaving the timeline. The collection spans seven Atari platforms, including arcade systems, Atari 2600, 5200, 7800, 8-bit computers, Lynx, and Jaguar. It includes classics such as Tempest 2000, Asteroids, and Yars’ Revenge, along with lesser-known titles. The package also contains stories about Atari, its hardware, and game development, presented through interviews, design documents, artwork, and film. Six new games add modern entries and reinterpretations, including a Swordquest sequel, a voxel-based Haunted Houses follow-up, a vector-game mashup, and multiplayer titles.
