Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a slow, exploration-led adventure may hit a wall with the repeated running, jumping, combat, and timed stages.
- Players who want a deep role-playing system may find the focus on platforming movement, collectibles, and boss encounters too narrow.
- Players looking for multiplayer battles may not find the leaderboard and ghost features equivalent to direct multiplayer play.
Our take on Bubsy 4D
The bounce point arrives when platforming shifts from basic movement to time-trial optimization. Players who do not want to master wall climbs, enemy launches, hairball momentum, and fast routes may stop at the leaderboard-and-ghost system rather than continue refining runs.
What is Bubsy 4D?
Bubsy 4D is a 3D platforming adventure set across alien planets.
Players run, jump, glide, roll, climb walls, and bounce from enemies while gathering yarn and facing robotic sheep called BaaBots. Bubsy can also enter a hairball form for fast rolling, bouncing, and launching. Levels use craft-themed environments and conclude with BaaBot boss encounters. Yarn can be spent on outfits, while hidden blueprints open additional moves and upgrades. Each stage includes a time trial, with online leaderboards and ghost data for comparing runs. The game includes a cast of recurring characters and a soundtrack combining jazz, big band, and electro-swing elements.

Bubsy 4D compared to similar games
SUPER CHICKEN JUMPER also centers on running, jumping, dodging, and shooting, but its description presents a runner with shooter elements rather than Bubsy 4D’s 3D platforming, collectibles, blueprints, and boss-ending worlds. Sundered®: Eldritch Edition is a chaotic metroidvania, while Bubsy 4D focuses on individual platforming stages with time trials and online ghost comparisons.
