- Players who prefer bright, lighthearted settings may not suit the post-apocalyptic world and hostile creatures
Our take on ASTRAL
ASTRAL shifts creatures from being only obstacles to being part of the puzzle-solving process. Its control device replaces a more usual escape-or-avoid structure with problems that require directing mutated enemies through the environment.
What is ASTRAL?
ASTRAL follows a young boy who wakes in a military laboratory after an epidemic transforms 95% of the population into creatures that hunt living things.
As a vaccine test subject, he survives with immunity that must be shared with people still alive on Earth. A device found in the laboratory allows him to control the creatures, making them part of the puzzle-solving process. Progress involves solving puzzles, avoiding dangerous places, and examining documents found along the way. The journey leads toward a bunker containing survivors. ASTRAL presents this post-apocalyptic setting through 2D graphics, atmospheric music, tasks, and groups of hostile monsters.
