Our take on Astebreed: Definitive Edition
Players who want a fixed camera angle may hit a wall when the game shifts between vertical, horizontal, and 3D shooting. The changes happen during the action, so adapting to a new viewpoint is part of play rather than a pause between stages.
What is Astebreed: Definitive Edition?
Astebreed is an arcade shooter in which Roy Becket pilots a bipedal war machine against an ancient mechanical alien force.
Combat shifts between vertical, horizontal, and 3D shooter perspectives as enemies approach from different directions. Roy can attack from long range, mark targets for homing attacks, and use a blade at close quarters. The PC Definitive Edition adds Arrange Mode, extra story episodes and demo scenes, new music, and artwork in the Gallery commissioned after the PlayStation 4 version. It also changes enemy placement and behavior across stages and difficulty levels, adds upgrades, and updates graphics, models, textures, backgrounds, and effects. The story follows Roy and a girl altered by alien experiments as they fight to protect humanity.
