Our take on Astatos
The card-battle format gives the story a clear tactical focus, but it leaves less room for action built around direct movement. Its online modes also make the experience broader than a solo-only narrative adventure.
What is Astatos?
Astatos combines a character-driven story with card battles set in a country in turmoil.
Play narrative battles and explore solo, or join online matches: strategic 1v1 duels and co-op action for up to 8 players. Battles involve matching cards, casting spells, summoning heroes with distinct abilities, and turning opposing characters to your side. The story follows Vitus and Volesus as they flee their academy after rebels approach, then seek to uncover their past and find a home. Conversations with characters include choices intended to sway them, with consequences for the story. Between chapters, collect mementos and spend them at a bathhouse to grow closer to companions, with possible effects on later events.
How Astatos plays
- 01Online Co-op
- Co-op matches support up to 8 players.
- 02Turn Opponents
- Battle actions can bring characters from the opposing team to the player's side.
- 03Companion Interludes
- Spending collected mementos at the bathhouse can affect events in later chapters.
