Our take on Ascension
The bounce point arrives when rebuilding a sect expands into managing exploration, cultivation, alchemy, disciples, artifacts, diplomacy, and combat. Players seeking one tightly defined objective may find the combined system mix demanding before reaching the immortality path.
What is Ascension?
Ascension is a cultivation 4X strategy game about restoring a damaged sect.
Players take the role of a young disciple who becomes the sect leader, then expand into unfamiliar territories, visit unknown cities, and explore strange lands. The sect can establish a lineage, study cultivation, practice alchemy, discover and create artifacts, and appoint cultivators to positions. Encounters include beasts, rival sects, hostile factions, and demons seeking the sect’s resources. Choices shape the sect’s direction, including diplomacy or combat and paths linked to righteousness, tyranny, evil, heaven, or rebellion. Progress can focus on meditation and study toward immortality, or on cultivating alongside companions.
