Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking combat, exploration, or action-heavy gameplay may find the potion puzzles and conversations narrow in scope.
- Players looking for a long-form simulation may find the compact ending-focused structure less suitable for extended sessions.
- Players who want a serious fantasy setting may not enjoy the deliberately quirky cast and playful tone.
Our take on Apothecary
Rather than using combat or broad exploration as its main structure, the game makes recipe reconstruction and customer decisions the route through its magical-town story. Workshop doodling also sits alongside the puzzle loop, adding a personal activity uncommon in standard potion-focused games.
What is Apothecary?
Apothecary is a story-led puzzle game set in Mangrove, a magical town with rival gangs, forbidden romance, and a mayoral election.
Playing as a newly hired apothecary, reconstruct potion recipes from a damaged book by testing concoctions on Roger, a local test dummy. Customers bring requests, and the potions selected for them influence the story's direction and one of 27 endings. The workshop can be customized and used as a place to write notes or doodle through Draw Mode. The town includes 16 unusual residents, while the game features more than 100 potion combinations, a 26-song soundtrack, hand-drawn art, and a workshop cat.
