Our take on Ancient Enemy
The bounce point arrives when battles require tactical management of spells, abilities, and power gathered from the landscape. Players who do not enjoy turn-based decisions or escalating difficulty may stop at the harder settings, while those seeking real-time action encounter the mismatch immediately.
What is Ancient Enemy?
Ancient Enemy is a turn-based RPG card game set in a world where evil has already won.
Players travel through a scarred wilderness across dozens of atmospheric levels, choosing a route through a dark folkloric story. Solitaire-style combat uses tactical card play, spells, and abilities against distorted enemies and monstrous lieutenants. Power gathered from the landscape can heal the mind and strengthen magic. The journey leads to a final duel with the main foe at a citadel. The game also includes challenging puzzles and three difficulty settings, ranging from relaxed to nightmare.

Ancient Enemy compared to similar games
Shogun Showdown also combines turn-based combat with deck-building, but it focuses on positioning, attack tiles, upgrades, combos, and roguelike progression. Ancient Enemy instead uses solitaire-style encounters, route selection, spells, abilities, landscape-derived powers, puzzles, and a journey that leads to a final duel.
