Our take on Alicemare
Its restrained horror keeps the adventure away from survival-horror play, but that also limits the role of fear as a gameplay driver. The focus instead rests on exploration, fairytale elements, and Allen’s story.
What is Alicemare?
Alicemare follows Allen, a boy who has lost his memory and both parents, after he comes to live at a home for lost children.
When he investigates a rumor told by the other children, his story begins. The adventure blends exploration with storybook and fairytale elements, with subtle touches of horror. It has no survival-horror gameplay. Characters at the home include Letty and her twin Rick, shy Chelsy, mischievous Joshua, and quiet, curious Stella. The Teacher is searching for something, while the White Rabbit and Cheshire Cat serve as guides on Allen’s journey. The Cheshire Cat can appear and disappear, and speaks in a peculiar way.
