Our take on Adabana Odd Tales
The visual novel format keeps attention on the tale and its characters, while leaving combat as a limited part of the experience. That focus may not suit players who want fighting or other action systems to carry most of the gameplay.
What is Adabana Odd Tales?
Adabana Odd Tales is a visual novel about Shirohime, a girl who has lost her memories, and Kurofude, a boy she does not recognize.
They travel through illustrated versions of classic Japanese fairy tales, searching for distortions that prevent the stories from progressing. Shirohime catches bookworms that eat words from the books and turns them into ink; Kurofude uses a brush to return the ink to the pages and restore the text. He can also wield the brush as a weapon against enemies. The story begins when the pair open a damaged book of Hanasaka Jiisan and enter its fairy-tale realm. Other tales represented in the game include Urashima Taro, Urikohime to Amanojaku, and Momotaro.
