Our take on A Long Way Home
The one-light-year-at-a-time route gives the journey a focused, stage-by-stage structure, but leaves little room for exploration away from the return path. Precision-based jumps also make small errors costly, trading forgiving traversal for risk.
What is A Long Way Home?
After an engine failure on day 200 of a 365-day mission, the ship is stranded far from Earth.
The journey home proceeds one light year at a time. Play involves jumping between asteroids and collecting enough dark matter to open each portal. Small miscalculations can be fatal, while later hazards include explosive rocks, micro-comets, and teleporting dark matter. The Steam edition was rebuilt from the original iPad game: its artwork was recreated at higher resolution, the display changed to widescreen, sound effects were rerecorded, and the menus were overhauled. It also includes a main menu and level selection.
How A Long Way Home plays

- 02Hazardous Asteroids
