Our take on 98xx
The bounce point arrives in Jumping Julian, when a seemingly ordinary platformer starts producing strange events. Players who expect stable rules and a conventional progression may stop there; others may find the surrounding operating-system interface too scattered.
What is 98xx?
98xx presents a rediscovered computer operating system containing working files to investigate.
Its applications include games such as Jumping Julian, Puzzle Patterns, BallPopper, Tank Blast, Asteroid Blast, Kingdom Quest, and titles based on matching, mathematics, shapes, and questions. Other programs include Pixel Paint, TypeWriter, Photo Editor, Video Editor, a web browser, media players, Documents, Photo Gallery, AudioPlayer, DialCaller, BookReader, Settings, and Security. Jumping Julian first appears to be a conventional 2D platformer, but strange events begin as the game continues. The operating system’s glitches and collection of applications provide the structure for exploration.
