SimulationIs 4D Toys worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Players curious about spatial dimensions who want to experiment with objects rather than follow a conventional story.
- VR users interested in manipulating simulated four-dimensional shapes.
- Mouse-and-keyboard players who want a sandbox of physics-based scenes.
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players looking for a structured campaign may find the scene-based toy sandbox lacks that progression.
- Players who want conventional three-dimensional physics may find the extra spatial dimension central to the experience.
- Players seeking a factory-building puzzle game may prefer a title focused on designing production systems.
Our take on 4D Toys
The focus on hands-on dimensional experiments comes at the cost of a conventional campaign structure; the experience centers on individual scenes and object manipulation rather than a stated story or progression.
What is 4D Toys?
4D Toys is a sandbox for exploring objects in a fourth spatial dimension, with time treated as an additional dimension in its physics system.
Poke, throw, roll, and move objects as they pass into a dimension that is not visible on screen. The game includes over 100 interactive scenes, such as rolling four-dimensional marbles, fitting a hypercube into a matching opening, and arranging dominoes. A separate Flatland activity explains the fourth spatial dimension through a two- and three-dimensional analogy. Play is available in VR or on a regular screen with mouse and keyboard controls. The game also lets players export meshes for uses such as 3D printing.
How 4D Toys plays
- 01Dimensional physics
- Objects bounce, slide, and roll according to a physics system built for four spatial dimensions and time.
- 02Flatland explanation
- An interactive section uses two- and three-dimensional comparisons to introduce the extra spatial dimension.
- 03Mesh export
- Meshes can be exported for uses including 3D printing.
