Our take on Z-Exemplar
Its defining structure is a galaxy-wide conquest campaign covering 960 planets, with each world using a different defensive arrangement and progressively stronger opposition.
What is Z-Exemplar?
Z-Exemplar is a side-scrolling shooter built around a retro Sinclair ZX Spectrum-inspired presentation, with bright 8-bit pixel art and audio.
The campaign spans 960 planets, each with its own defensive setup. Players move through hostile stages, destroy enemies, collect their dropped booty, and face increasingly strong defenses, larger enemy groups, and more lethal threats as they advance. The fighter can use more than 20 upgradeable weapons, with different loadouts selected for individual planetary battles. The game includes 10 planet themes, hundreds of enemy types, large end-of-level guardians, hidden secrets, and a conquest leaderboard. The vendor lists more than 16 hours of gameplay and frames the overall objective as taking control of the entire galaxy.
