Is Yumeiri worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Players who prefer story-led RPGs with surreal or psychologically sensitive themes
- RPG fans who want very high difficulty and luck-dependent play
- English-speaking players seeking a remake of a formerly Japanese-only game
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a relaxed or forgiving RPG may find the very high difficulty punishing
- Players who want broad, multi-path gameplay may find the single-story structure restrictive
- Players looking for a conventional fantasy adventure may not want its waking-dream premise and sensitive subject matter
Our take on Yumeiri
Its focus on a single story and luck-centered challenge sacrifices breadth and accessibility. The very high difficulty can make progress demanding, while the sensitive subject matter narrows its appeal compared with lighter role-playing adventures.
What is Yumeiri?
Yumeiri follows an adult troubled by everyday life who receives a mysterious package containing a pillow-shaped machine and a request for help.
Activating it sends the protagonist into a waking dream connected to forgotten childhood memories. The game focuses on a single story and uses rogue-like RPG structure, with luck as a central concept and a very high difficulty. This remake reworks every scenario and rewrites some episodes. It also adds a full English version; the original release was available only in Japanese. The narrative explores sensitive subjects through a surreal premise that begins with the dream’s first mysterious events.

Yumeiri compared to similar games
Yumeiri centers on a waking-dream narrative, luck management, and a highly difficult rogue-like RPG structure. Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition focuses on exploring a dangerous city through an unconventional story, while Back to the Dawn places its RPG play in a maximum-security prison with survival, investigation, and escape objectives.
