Our take on Worlds Collide
The defining structure is real-time empire management with a pause: city growth, production, military movement, and responses to crises all occur within one continuously running campaign.
What is Worlds Collide?
Worlds Collide is a real-time strategy game about governing an expanding empire.
Build a city, claim territory, collect resources, and establish production lines before forming an army to attack other powers. The game runs without rounds, with a pause option for suspending deployment and planning. Empire management includes technological development, national progression, era quests, and responses to natural disasters, civilian uprisings, and resource pressures. Heroes provide skills that affect the city and army. Battlefield units gain experience and receive a choice of one trait from three random options after leveling. Logistics units carry war materials from city production lines to frontline forces.
How Worlds Collide plays
- 01Paused Real-Time Play
- Deployment can be halted at any point with the space button while the strategy remains real-time.
- 02Empire Expansion
- City influence allows plots to be occupied, with yields and access to neutral buildings tied to controlled land.
- 03Production Networks
- City resources can be allocated to production lines that supply economic development and military materials.
- 04Technology Progression
- Research opens additional production capacity, strengthens armies, and provides greater ability to deal with natural disasters.
- 05Army Trait Choices
- Leveling battlefield forces presents three randomly selected traits, of which one can be adopted.
- 06Empire Events
- Natural disasters, civilian uprisings, and population-related resource pressure create threats during a campaign.
Worlds Collide compared to similar games
Worlds Collide combines city construction, territorial expansion, production lines, technology, and real-time army control with pausing. Men of War: Assault Squad focuses on large-scale World War II strategy and direct unit combat, while Xenonauts uses turn-based squad operations against an alien invasion. Worlds Collide instead centers on developing an empire and sustaining its military through logistics.
