Our take on Wenjia
The focus on switching between two realms and overcoming environmental obstacles leaves less room for complex character systems or broader gameplay variety. Its straightforward structure is paired with levels that still require reflexes and planning.
What is Wenjia?
Wenjia combines side-scrolling platforming with environmental puzzles across two parallel worlds: the material realm and a plane of pure energy.
The kitten hero, itself an energy being, can shift between these spaces, where matching locations contain distinct hazards and interactive mechanisms. After an earthquake endangers the spirits living on a mountain, the kitten crosses woodland areas, ancient ruins, traps, wildlife, molten lava, and other dangers to reach the volcano’s fiery core and save them. Solving challenges requires switching realms to use their different mechanisms, along with quick reactions and careful planning.
Hand-drawn art gives the material world bright colors while making the energy world feel uncanny. The audio features forests, haunted ruins, and erupting volcanoes. A free Easy Mode Pack is also available.
